Najem Financial Commits $500M to Affordable Housing Initiative
Najem Financial today announced a landmark $500 million commitment to expand affordable housing access across underserved communities in 14 markets. The initiative, developed in partnership with regional housing agencies and nonprofit developers, represents the bank's largest single community investment in its history.
The funding will support the construction and rehabilitation of more than 6,200 affordable housing units over five years, prioritizing families earning below 80% of area median income. A dedicated lending team of 45 Community Development specialists will manage loan origination and community partnerships across targeted metropolitan areas.
"This commitment reflects our belief that access to safe, stable housing is foundational to financial well-being," said President and CEO Melissa T. Poling. "We are proud to put our balance sheet to work for the communities that trust us most." The bank expects the program to generate over 8,000 construction-related jobs and contribute an estimated $1.4 billion in local economic activity by 2030.
